US considers escalating tariffs against Asia’s biggest economy China, while China claims to retaliat

There has been a recent development of tension between the governments of USA and China. This is seen as a result of Mr Donald Trump’s consideration of ramping up the recently announced tariffs to be placed on $200 billion of Chinese imports. This move is likely to raise the duties from 10 to 25 percent. However, China’s Ministry of Commerce has published its own statement claiming that it was “fully prepared and will have to retaliate”. But with the present scenario and the rate of the tariff escalating it is uncertain for Trump and Xi to reach an agreement.
