After the dispute where Taiwan’s antitrust regulator said that the chipmaker Qualcomm abused its monopoly power over the smartphone modems by putting higher patent licensing fees on companies using Qualcomm devices in their products, the regulator slapped a $774 million fine on them for antitrust violations. Qualcomm, now has reached an agreement with the regulator to remedy the situation by paying only a $93 million of the initial fine and to follow a handful of other rules put in place by the regulator.
