Recently, Israel’s antitrust regulator (“IAS”) has stated it will be analyse the practices of high technology companies such as Facebook and Google and assess whether these Internet behemoths have been abusing their dominant position. Although, this is not completely unexpected after the European Commission found Google to be in violation of its dominant position, the fact that the IAS has clubbed Facebook shows that post the European Commission’s order, internet platforms are more likely to become subjects of antitrust investigation across jurisdictions.
