The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has found against Google on counts of search bias and abuse of dominance in web search and advertising markets in India. However, the Commission found in favour of Google on counts of the its search design and online distribution engine. CCI imposed a fine of 5 % of the average revenue generated from India over the three years an amount of Rs. 135.85 crore. This amount has to be deposited within 60 days. The decision comes after similar judgments against Google in the European Union and Russia for the world’s most popular search engine.
